The 3+ trillion $ stimulus that was passed by the House many months ago died on Moscow Mitch's desk. But being the party of fiscal responsibility, Senate gop'ers came up with their own version that was a little more than 1 trillion out of concern for their seats I mean the well being of the country.. To show how serious they are about helping the unemployed, the people on the verge of homelessness or already past that point, ACTUAL small businesses, essential and front line workers, those who've fallen through the cracks, etc.... the Senate just released a "bipartisan" stimulus bill of $900b.
Get there early folks because when they're done throwing the paper towels, you're sol.

Are they getting any money out of this stimulus? Cause if not, it's not a REAL stimulus and can't be passed, as I'm sure you know.

I'm sure they'll all be stimulated well before the rest of us.

Maybe getting close... www.cnbc.com/2020/12/16/coronavirus-stimulus-update-congress-may-offer-900-billion-relief-plan.htmlMaybe as good as a compromise we're going to see and maybe, probably, the only one. I think putting the money directly in the hands of those that need it is the best way to go. Yes, there are other things directly related to covid and the fallout from it that have to be funded. Others not so much. Whenever a government official says the word "small business" as it will with "this package includes 400 million for small businesses", that is code for "all our friends" as it has played out ad infinitum. "Protections" is code word for "cannot be held responsible". We've had about 10 months to come up with a way to identify and serve those hardest hit by this, and how. And it's been 9 since they've done anything with that goal in mind.

I'd say it's been 9.5 since they've done anything with that goal in mind, and I'd still be willing to negotiate that to a larger number.
I agree that money needs to get directly into the hands of those who need it the most. I would like to see the PPP reconfigured though so that it's more targeted (no more large companies with offices in many states hogging the pie) and not tied directly into paying a salary so small business owners can use the money for rent or utilities. Read too many stories of businesses who called people back in, only to lay them off the minute that money ran out because business didn't spring back quickly enough.

Well, take away all the regulations and oversight, and you got yourself a deal!

Yeah, the GOP are realizing that their candidates in the GA runoff are getting hammered precisely over this issue.

Yeah, I wish Pelosi and Schumer would elbow Mitch off the podium and tell everyone that they're the ones who pushed on this though, since Mitch is trying to take credit for the whole thing.

Of course he is. He gets to be the Grim Reaper and the White Knight all at the same time. It's BIPARTISAN!SHIT!SHIP! man! It's all about the People!
Fuck that prick and every last one of them that decided (for the sake of optics) this couldn't wait any longer. You can bet your last dollar, not mine because I can't spare it, had those two cunts in GA won, the impasse would have remained indefinitely. 100% proof of this is moscow mitch's compromise to leave out his liability "protections" for businesses from the bill.
PS- AOC says Shumer and Pelosi have to go. While that is a different topic, just thought I'd throw that in since you mentioned them in your post.
