They finally dropped the rental price for ppv to 6 bucks vs 20. Pretty intense movie for the obvious low budget....

We watched Red Penguins the other week.
Not extremely well-done, but interesting documentary about hockey after the fall of the soviet union. The Pittsburg Penguins bought part of one of Moscow's national hockey teams, and it's the story of what happened afterwards.
It was interesting to see how awful the conditions at the rink were - the world had been conditioned to believe that soviet sports were a powerhouse and the athletes got the best. An outdoor public rink for wanna-be skaters would have had better conditions - garbage everywhere, and many of the rink workers slept in the hallways of the facility because they had no other place to go.
Then of course, once they got things going and people started coming to the games (probably for the strippers at intermission and free beer), Russia dissolved into total anarchy and the mob came in and took over.
They had lots of documentary footage from the time period - was really surreal.
