Got my booster last night at the 24 hr CVS by the hospital. So far still alive.
But here's the concerning thing. My appointment was at 10pm. I requested Pfizer since that's what I had the first go-round - did that online when I made the appointment.
Got there on time with Mr. Minx in tow since he was going to see if they'd allow him to piggy-back on my appointment.
One dude in front who had been waiting 20 minutes to check in. About 6 people waiting on prescriptions that had been called in. Phones ringing, people at the drive-up window.
One pharmacist, one tech, and one casher. Tech was trying to field the calls, so the pharmacist could fill prescriptions. He verified that I was getting Pfizer and my spouse and the other dude were Moderna Men.
45 minutes later we all get our shots. Pharmacist was super-super nice - he told me that it was always like this at night. Maybe there would be a lull around 2am. And yeah, this was pretty much how it's been for the past 8 months.
Get home, look at my card and I was given Moderna. Whoa, what? Look at the back-up email they send as a confirmation in case you lose your card. Yup, Moderna all the way.
Not a big deal in the scheme of life for me, but I can't help thinking of the scene in It's a Wonderful Life where the pharmacist is overworked and accidentally fills a prescription with a dosage that would have killed a kid.....

See above for reason I will not get vaccinations done at retail pharmacies.
Our doctor's office hasn't been able to tell me when they'll have the booster/s available. There no mass vax centers like with the initial doses. This is a huge WTF moment for our powers that be when we know not everyone has gotten the initial vaxes, and they are advising boosters without a plan to deliver them with the same urgency and not the sole sources being CVS at midnight on Sundays.

When my BFF got her booster, they told her that Pfizer wasn’t available here in the county, so she took the Moderna at CVS. She found out later that Walmart had Pfizer. I received my booster at CVS, but experienced few issues. Yes, they were running behind. I got there early and was annoyed that the app wouldn’t let me check in until 10 minutes before my appointment. I was just happy that they had chairs available so I could sit while I waited.

I used this www.vaccines.gov/search/I had more than enough of CVS' online app, so I did walk-in at an Urgent Care. In and out in under a half hour, Team Pfizer all the way.

I should have done that too. Needed to get it done this weekend, and since I was visiting the little minx in Reston, my only safe option was the nighttime slot at CVS.
Had a super bad headache and backache yesterday, and felt like crap this morning, but now doing much better. Hopefully that's it for side effects.

Yeah that thing basically says if we want the booster within 20 miles of our address it's either walmart, kroger, or cvs.... nothing about the local community health centers, local DOH, clinics, hospitals, or mass vaccination sites like in the beginning.
Piss poor that I have to get in line for something apparently so critical yet not critical enough to be distributed by health professionals in a major city.

Think all the mass vaccination sites are shuttered now.
What's piss poor is that there's still a significant amount of the population that hasn't even bothered to get shot #1.
And all the braniacs still haven't figured out how to get shots to those in the third world. So between all that, we'll have enough variants to take up the entire greek alphabet soon.

I follow a young lady on Facebook that lives in South Africa on an elephant reserve. She posts amazing photos of the wildlife down there. I highly recommend her page - Yvonne in the bush. She also volunteers with an organization that provides necessities to the needy, and has posted photos taken on the deliveries of such items. I can certainly understand how difficult it is to vaccinate people that live in those places. Some are nearly inaccessible.

We managed to get an appt today at our Dr office for our boosta shots. By actual healthcare professionals which significantly reduces my stress level.
Glad to get it done this week rather than next which also helps clear worry about traveling up to that burg for xm'ass.

Woo-Hoo! Glad you're getting boostered!
Felt like crap the day after, but back to normal by Monday afternoon (so about 36hrs as the manufacturer predicts - funny how that worked)
OTOH, Mr. Minx had no side-effects at all, so I greatly encourage you to be like Mr. Minx!

I believe pharmacists are considered healthcare professionals. Quite a few volunteered at those mass vaccination sites you mentioned.

I remember feeling a bit awful but I have those days occasionally. Yesterday, I couldn’t take a step without feeling short of breath. This feeling is pretty common after I rise for the night, but it persisted the whole time I was ambulatory. Hopefully, it’s a good sign. I may not make it to 65 after all!

Thanks. She feels better and is getting around own her own a little better. I'll take it. Yesterday was FUBAR. I'm hoping tomorrow is back to normal but in a way maybe not, since the therapists have never seen her in that condition and there are 2 coming here tomorrow.

Glad she's doing better. And I can get that it's a fine-edged sword. You want her feeling like herself, but at the same time, you kind of need her to be feeling lousy so the therapists see that it's not all sunshine and roses.

She's not 100% of her baseline yet but trending that way. It was super not to have to get up last night or this morning to move her around and I'm sure she is just as relieved. Certain things like stress or change of environment just throw her into a tailspin but this was different as I said, she was completely unable to do anything for herself. So Yeah, it COULD be helpful for them to see her when she's offline. They have the authority to assess and recommend, pretty much everything you can imagine, that has to do with mobility. So far Medicaid has not held up anything. The goal would be to make sure she has permanent coverage, knowing that this is a chronic and progressive disease. I don't know if that's medicaid or medicare, or both. If that could be locked in regardless of her having funds in that trust, then I could say things are heading in a positive direction at least for long term care. If they drop her and the money has to be spent on premiums and deductibles, I estimate that would take less than 3 years to exhaust it completely on health care alone.
