Now we haven't made a full court press on the issue since our return, but we've indeed made multiple calls to different primary care doctors and so far every one is not accepting new patients. They don't even ask about the insurance and some even have their recorded greeting say ".....numero ocho para Espanol and please be advised we are not accepting new patient applications at this time."
So not only accepting new patients, but "applications" for new patients?
Fredericksburg, we have a problem.

This is an ongoing problem and only getting worse. I don't think people are even thinking about it.
I've had four primary care doctors since moving here - fired two from Rappahannock Family Physicians. Third left medicine with no notice at all and no real way to get records. Fourth is my age, meaning that at some point, he's going to want to retire. And we only got into that practice because my daughter was friends with his daughter - a slip of good luck, as he's a fantastic doctor.
Psych is a few years younger than I am. Super cool guy and since I'm considered stabilized, we spend my 15 minute appointment chatting. He said that the pandemic has been a total nightmare of abusive patients that just left him feeling very burnt-out. Have zero idea of what I'll do if he stops practicing.
And I don't see a lot of new providers in the pipeline, especially in the area of mental health and general practice. It's not good.

The American people have decided that they want gun care and health control. The paperwork is much less complicated to get gun than a primary care doc and you can always get a gun the same day. The health care not so much. That's just the way it is. We might have to go to Orange. UVA has a primary care clinic there and she will be automatically accepted. ME on the other hand, it might wind up being doc in a box. Or I'll have to try to keep my docs in LBG until something opens up around here. Turning rant off before it gets long winded.

My eye doc always sends a visual field report to my rheumatologist so he can be apprised of any changes caused by the plaquinil (or hydroxychloroquine). They weren’t aware of my guy and said they’d make a note for those seeking that specialty since they are rare in this area.
