yall were talking about vaccines but I was sitting here talking to her about getting the one for the flu and the one for the Kung Flu. Could of questions popped up in my head like right away. First pop was- How long after you have tested +, had moderate symptoms, and recovered should you wait to get that particular boostre? Second pop went out to the flu vax they say is the Thor of flu vaccines.... same basic timing questions as about but also if the potency of one is contraindicated in the potency of the other, hey, one is made from live virus, the other is made from shit so far above the understanding of most everyone else that it might as well be made by NASA. Right? I'm saying, what is a vaccine? I know the Webster version but here in the real world what is a vaccine? I define it as a "shot" that keeps me from free from infection by that disease.
Benediction: If the rubber breaks, we should be able to sue the prophylactic company. If the vaxxine doesn't keep you from getting the virus, we have no recourse at all.
Homily: Guide us carefully o'Lord, so that we not step upon the roots of our faith, or where the dog has been in the yard.

I was just reading this morning that a new study is out that tells us the new, improved Covid vaccine isn’t all that improved. It performs as well as previous versions. It will protect MOST recipients from the most dangerous symptoms and they won’t be sick as long. Same for the flu. Neither vax touts total protection. They only say if you get it, it won’t be as bad as it could be.
Around here (DELMARVA area) flu has become more virulent earlier than normal this year. Couple that with that the RSV virus that is really taking down schools around here (a few games and other events were postponed or canceled), and it’s war on breathing! And there’s no vaccine for RSV.
I had both flu and Covid vaccines Tuesday. Aside from very minor soreness at the injection site, I’ve had absolutely no reaction. So, I’m guessing my immune system is working with it, but who knows? I swore I was getting placebos when everyone was talking about their reactions to the first Covid shots.

There's no recommendation on waiting to get the shots, but I've heard a lot of people who've waiting a month or more. And it does make sense to me - once you've had the shit, your body is producing antibodies for a bit so getting a booster seems a little silly.
OTOH, I would get the flu shot - this year's version appears to be super nasty.
And I have to express great disappointment in Biden's approach to the virus. Yes, he had mountains of shit to clear on multiple fronts. And yes his predecessor fucked up big time.
But I was really hoping for clear public updates on where we're at with this shit coming through multiple channels - press conferences, news releases, social media, ect. A this is what we know to date summary about the virus, this is what research is currently in progress, and these are new findings.
The good, bad and ugly. The initial outbreak of the virus could be slowed by a simple cotton mask The virus has now mutated to the point where cotton masks are mostly ineffective - medical grade masks are needed for real protection
The initial outbreak was deadly to all, especially those who had a co-morbidity The virus has mutated to the point where getting it does not mean an automatic death sentence - however, the death rates are highest amongst those who are unvaccinated and those with co-morbidities
Very simplified I know, but shit like that - not talking about politics or shit - just straight facts (which will be twisted into politics of course).
But he never really did that, and I truly think it's way past the time where real information will do anything.

I think the problem is that the data is sketchy. It always has been. And there is a recommendation of when to get the vaccine after testing positive. It’s why they ask all those questions when you schedule an appointment. A friend got her last booster (not this one) about a week after she recovered from Covid and had a much more severe reaction to the vaccine than she had in the past and recently.
Because this pandemic was politicized from the start, we weren’t going to get good data from everywhere. Everybody was skewing the numbers to make their own personal point, whatever that may be. (Well, not everyone).

I think the whole 'data is sketchy' thing is due to Trump and his minions. There was clear scientific data that there was a virus in China that was lethal. And that the virus had potential to spread quickly.
But Trump and his team played the entire thing down from before day one - they had information on it and suppressed it so they wouldn't 'panic' people.
Of course we'll never know, but what if Trump had said in January of 2020 - 'We've had news of a virus that appears to be very contagious. With today's increases in plane and international travel, there is no doubt that eventually we will see cases here. No need to panic, but if you don't need to travel internationally right now, please don't. And if you do travel, we urge you to wear a high-quality mask (such as a N95), wash your hands frequently and avoid crowds as much as possible. We will update you as we know more.'
Then a few weeks later "Virus update - here is what we currently know..."
Man could have been a hero, and won re-election in a landslide with his mature handling of the virus. He would have won bigly - the best win ever!
So maybe the chaos wasn't such a bad thing....

The initial response from Trump would have made no difference in the course or spread of the virus here or anywhere in the world. I don't believe that his choice to lie cost any lives because even the ones that hung on his every word were not about to wear masks and observe the distancing/other precautions whilst sifting through the Natty Light for the coldest 36 pack at the Piggly Wiggly.
Now his continued downplaying and stunts he pulled, all full of lies and misinformation, keeping his tiny hands on the editing of what the science was saying officially.... that, yes he is solely responsible for everything that came after.
Here we are several years removed from that fucking idiot and the new one has proclaimed an end to the same pandemic, which is also false. A lie if you will. And now we're finding out that presidents come and presidents go, but big pharma always has the controls. Again, a vaccine is supposed to protect the person (or animal for that matter) against the disease. "Boosters" are supposed to extend and in some cases enhance that protection. How long until we find out that the real data points to something a lot less than advertised?
