Friday night - 11:30pm. Starting to think about bed (mainly because Dresi is whining like a banshee, so must be time to pee).
Jack calls me over - Dresi is whining and panting and can't stand up. He's on the linoleum, so Jack carries him to the carpet. He reluctantly stands and then falls down. NOOOOOOOO!
Of course we load him in the car and rush to the emergency vet. He's shaky, but walks in on his own power. As I'm completing the paperwork, he's flirting with the dog next to him.
And he happily walks over to the room with us. While he's still trembling a little, by the time the tech walks him back to be seen, he's fine.
Vet thinks he had a seizure of some sort. All bloodwork is normal and his vital signs are fine. We need to follow up with our regular vet and keep an eye on him. So far, all is well thank goodness, because he scared the hell out of us!!!
But here's the hysterical part. They have a triage board with the pet's name and age and their picture. All of the other dogs have a headshot that looks like it was taken while the dog was sitting on the floor or on an exam table. Then there's our wild child...
Lock Him Up!
And hoping that this is a one-time episode and we can laugh at this idiot for many more years.
The vet went through possible causes and what the diagnostic chain would be up to an MRI of the head. I asked why in God's name would I have to pay $3K to find out what we all already knew - that the dog's head was empty! His reply "Well he's a lab mix, so there is the possibility that there is a pea or two rattling around in there!"
