Trumpy Bear looks like he's going to be indicted, and nary a word from all of you?
And Georgia hasn't returned any grand jury results yet.
We can but hope for jail time...

The last few years have made it a challenge to dredge up hope or optimism.
So, yay indictment, trial in 1 or 2 years. At least Pat Robertson is definitely dead, the asshole.

Georgia is scheduled for August. I’m worried about this indictment, as I don’t have any confidence that a Florida jury will come through. Plus there’s the Judge Cannon issue. 🧐

Bob sums it up perfectly. It's senseless to have any expectation that any of this means anything in the grand scheme, or to the grand schemer.

Yeah, I hear what Bob is saying.
But man, that indictment is damning. The justice department took its time and did things right. Lots of evidence that Trump KNEW what he was doing (unlike previous presidents where things were careless packed and sat in sealed boxes for years and years) - he packed some of the damn boxes himself!
And I have to admit I loved them using all of his 'Lock Her Up!' statements as proof that he clearly understood the importance of keeping classified documents secret.
Plus Pam, the Grand Jury that indicted him was in Florida. And since it was a Federal Grand Jury, it's pretty hard to get out of serving (I was on one - a woman asked at jury selection to be excused because she was pregnant. The judge told her they'd give her a year's stay - she'd have to report next year - whoa!). So it's not a slam dunk that Trump will be automatically acquitted.
I get all of the 'election tampering' morons claiming that Trump was framed. What saddens me is that not one Republican has stood up to say that these are very serious charges and they look forward to Trump successfully refuting each one of them. Mind you, I'm not shocked, just saddened that this is what our country has come to.

If only that "lock her up" shit would come around full karma. There's already a meme with her and Roger "Nixon's Fluffer" whatshisname where he says "lock her up" and she says "hey Roger, don't drop the soap". It's the little things that make all the difference.
Does anyone really expect it to ever see the inside of a jail cell, even a plush one, or would having him ousted from re-election be enough? The more troubling question might be what if he gets both?

/ And the ones that are calling this an "attack on the republic" on Fox News. They are still amplifying those lies BTW, and if anything they've doubled down on it.

The sentencing by a judge that tried to keep the evidence from the search warrant out of DOJ’s hands? It’s going to be as minimal as she can make it. And grand juries and trial juries are different entities.
Some of these charges dictate no bail, meaning jail until trial. Do you expect that in this case? (See Jack Texeira, for example.). I say he’s still got docs stashed and will try to get the most he can for them. We are fucked. I still say they need to dig up Ivanka. There’s a reason he planted her on his golf course (besides a tax break).

I has question. Is it a conflict of interest if the judge was appointed by the defendant? Should she recuse herself?

She's actually seems to be quite impartial. Ruled for Trump on the special counsel, then ruled against him when the DOJ said the SC had the power to go through shit Trump didn't want him to see, like personal shit.
It's telling that almost all of Trump's legal counsel has resigned since the initial allegations surfaced. But they saw the writing on the wall...
And going back to the thread in the general discussion, I bet Trump's hell is going to be hearing Hilary read the sections of the indictment where they used his campaign trail words of 'Lock Her Up!' against him. Over and over...

I hope we're a little better prepared for it this time around.

Mindlessly digging himself deeper is what he does. It's who he is. But to be honest I've been watching, albeit not extensively by any means, all media outlets are doing the same shit, just without the combover. It reminds me of the Rodney King thing where every news station in California and beyond sent reporters to the street corners of Compton for days at a time prior to the SHTF. I honestly believe the "liberal mainstream media" incited that shit. I vividly remember one reporter saying as much with her comment about "waiting for the community's reaction".... as I was glued to the tv at the time.
This is why I've been saying for years that they (media) has been creating much of the news it reports, and then gets to report the news they create.

wapo.st/3NraHKTI have gifted this. It’s an opinion that succinctly explains my concerns with Aileen Cannon as a judge overseeing this case.

I think that even Aileen is going to have problems with dismissing some of this stuff.
How do you get past piles of classified documents stored haphazardly in a bathroom, or spilling onto the floor on an unkempt storage closet? And how do you get past recordings of Trump showing off classified documents and bragging about how he shouldn't have them, even after knowing he was being recorded?
I suspect that once the trial actually gets underway, we'll start seeing Republicans truly jumping ship. They're already starting - Haley and Scott changed their tunes from election interference to 'these are very serious charges'.
I'm no fan of Chris Christie, but at least the man had the balls to say that Trump needed to pull out of the race as soon as the indictment was released. And he was one of the few republicans running who said that this was damning and that Trump should go to jail for a long time if convicted. Too bad that everyone else is still too busy kissing Trump's ass.

Even if she's completely on the level, it's not a good look. If you'll recall, that's exactly why the impeachment hearings in the Senate were such a sham. Half the jury was working directly for the defendant. Now he gets a judge that he put on the bench? Hell no, not in my definition of justice.
PS- That picture is bogus. It's not her according to all the fact-check sites.

Continuing on the great debate. Where is the safer place to store the classified documents you 'happen' to have packed 'accidentally'?
According to the great Kevin McCarthy, Congressional Leader Extraordinare, the bathroom is the most secure place. Because the door can be locked ya know. Not like the garage,
This is need to know information. Personally, I'm glad that I can securely read about our plans for invading Russia while on the shitter.

Why bother convicting him if they can’t put him in a jail cell? Everything I’ve been reading says he will most likely be put under “house arrest” with an ankle monitor. WTF? How would that be any different from the way he lives now? He will live in millionaire comfort, play golf every day, etc. How is that punishment? How will that rehabilitate his behavior? 😖

Well, we have a long history of letting the rich off easy.
We should have gone after Jefferson Davis and Lee after the Civil War and put them on trial for treason rather than being 'gentlemen'. Nixon should have been put on trial rather than allowing him a pardon so the nation could 'heal' Bush the lessor should have been put on trial for deliberately lying about finding WMD in Iraq and destabilizing that part of the world.
But we're 'better' than that we say. And what has the lack of resolve and kindness towards these traitors produced?
Donald "The law should never apply to me" Trump.
Sigh.

The only positive will be if he’s convicted of sedition/treason. Then he cannot run/hold an office. But, with any conviction, he can party with his “guests”, sell secrets, etc. and live it up in NJ or FL. What a nation we are.

I'd be willing to cough up some tax dollars to make Mar-A-Lago a fortress. Lone inhabitant Donald J. Trump. Make it a no-fly zone and have the NSA block cell service. Add guards, a cook and some janitors. And cameras - lots and lots and lots of cameras, so his every move is visible.
Trump can call out once a day for 15 minutes while being observed. Lawyers can visit by appointment of course, as he is entitled to legal representation while his case is on appeal. Otherwise restricted visiting hours - once a week for 2 hours, and limited to guests on the list he submits. Oh, and there is a limit on how many guests can be visiting at once and said guests will be searched and required to leave all valuables outside of the entrance - so if you bring your cell, you can walk the 10 minutes back to the parking lot to put it in your car (and those minutes count towards visiting hours - the clock is ticking!).
But Trump can roam the properly, play golf, whatever. Course he'll have armed guards following at a distance, but he can go out and about around the resort.
No 19th hole of course - he can get water from a faucet. And dinner will be healthy - chicken and vegetables for example, but will be predictable and boring. Goes without saying it will be served on plates that cannot be broken, along with a fork and dull knife.
Let the bastard go insane without having the media and his kiss-ass followers everywhere.
