Usually, she keeps away from me. Today, she was napping on my porch when I went out to fetch the Tovala delivery. She started rubbing on the pillar, indicating she wanted attention. So I reached out and she came right up for some petting. I always talk to her when I see her. She doesn’t quite trust me, but we are getting there. (I admit, I was a bit worried that she would dart inside when I opened the door because she hopped up expectantly when I turned the deadbolt.)

Progress! And she's a beautiful cat for sure.

She belongs to somebody around here. Until the past few days, she always sported a collar with a bell on it.
She’s out there again today. And, yes, I rubbed her head and ears a few times. I considered putting out water, but am adverse to attracting mosquitoes.
She’s a beauty. Very unusual eyes. I believe she may have some Siamese in her heritage.

Put out a saucer - it won't be a ton of water and will evaporate, so shouldn't attract bugs

I just took out the trash and recycling. Put everything on the porch and dashed back inside to grab my cane, leaving the door slightly ajar. And when I return to the foyer, who should be standing there IN THE FOYER, staring at me with her big blue eyes? Nope, she didn’t stay. She followed me on each of my 3 trips to the receptacles. I gave her some love and left her staring at me when I went inside.
Broke my heart because it’s fucking cold. But she’s well cared for so I know she has a home.

This reminds me of a friend's cat. Daughter was supposed to be watching the cat (it was still a kitten) while friend was on vacation. Daughter didn't change the litter box, and cat peed on her stuff. So Daughter put the cat outside. Well, once that cat got a taste of the outdoors, she wouldn't come back in! Friend did all the recommended things, but no dice. Meanwhile, every time the cat graced my friend with his presence, he was getting larger and larger so clearly he was Eating Well in the Neighborhood. She got him a tag that said on one side "I'm an asshole - I have a home!" The reverse side said "Please don't feed me" Didn't work of course But she rented out a room and the renter is the Cat Whisperer. Not only does the cat love him, but she came back inside to be with him! So a nice ending!

We'd love to get another Rottie at some point but until we have a fence, no dice. So we've occasionally lamented about how good of a cat Lucy was. Very low maintenance, cheap to feed, and other than when she had to stay indoors to heal from her scraps with other cats, just wasn't much work at all. Don't think we'll do it but sometimes it feels like we need a critter to cuddle with and a cat would be good if you knew it was cuddleable and not a moody jerk.

She would be miserable here as she would become an indoor cat (to prolong her life as well as protect the birds). That means litter box - ugh.
I haven’t seen her the past couple days so I hope she’s warm inside somewhere. Of course, I didn’t see her at all Sunday when I was hauling the trash out, until she appeared in the foyer. 🤣
And minx, I’ve read a couple stories about dogs doing the exact thing you described - traveling to neighbors for food/treats. The human participants started putting notes on them. 🤣🤣

This cat went from a small fluffy girl to Super Chonk! Now that she's staying at home more, she's slimmed down to a regular chonk.

She showed up this afternoon after being absent during the really bad weather. I talked to her through the door and she ran up like she wanted in. I went to grab my hoodie before I stepped outside (no way I’m going out in a shortsleeved tee to pet her today!) but she was gone. I don’t blame her for not waiting.
I saw the tuxedo cat a couple nights ago. He seems to only show up at night and he is terrified of me.

As I was heading upstairs very early this morning, I glanced outside and there she was on the porch! At about 0115! She heard me and ran to the door, begging to come inside. I couldn’t stop thinking about her, all night. 😢😢
Now I’m wondering if she resides at the home next door. They always leave their garage door open or slightly ajar and I’ve wondered about that. But maybe it is for the cat to enter and exit? Anyway, I’m suffering from nightmares today.

Is there a way you could get a cat door for her so she can go in and out? Or maybe a heated cat shelter?
I'd be happy to contribute towards costs!

She wasn’t around last night and I haven’t seen her since. I also haven’t seen the tuxedo in a while. The tuxedo is what I was checking for when I looked outside, as he usually appears at night. As I said before, I’m not bringing any cat inside, because they will stay inside. Free roaming cats shorten their lives as well as decimate the already dwindling bird population. I’m pretty sure she has a home. I thought it was my neighbor on the other side, as I saw her heading that way one evening but it could be the newer ones that moved in after the old guy passed away. I’m hoping they have a doggy door into their garage and that’s why they leave to garage open. But who knows? It could be a different neighbor altogether.
I’ve been getting emails begging me to join next door. This would be a great use for that, but there’s no way I’m going there!

Next Door is a cesspool of pettiness. It can be amusing, but also gets rather depressing at times.
One can only read so many posts of people ranting that some kid rode their bike across their lawn after dark and how can they stop this vandalism from happening? Most of the responses involve calling 911 or 'This is why you need to arm yourself'.
Jesus wept, and rolled his eyes until they faced the back of his head.

Shit. Facebook groups are bad enough! Someone posted that they saw a “fuck Biden” bumper sticker in King George and was surprised by it. Boy, the flaming that arose…!
Havent seen either cat since that night. I missed her assistance yesterday when I took out the trash.

Hey, I want to know who's vehicle that sticker was attached to. Mainly because I want to contact that person and thank them for having the balls to say it outright rather than hiding behind 'Let's go Brandon!'.
Not going to shake their hand - don't need filth on mine - but it's kind of refreshing to have someone who will actually say what's on his mind. After all, isn't that what his idol is all about?

I have wanted a FUCK TRUMP sticker on the van since the beginning but really wanted one in '20. Was just looking for one the other day and decided against it, again. Only have the one vehicle, that ramp is a must have, and I don't want a Partlow Boy fucking it up.

I’ll never forget the afternoon in 2020 that I was waiting for a light at Walmart behind a pickup that was painted with 45’s picture and other pro-former fuck slogan’s. Lots of flags, etc. I didn’t park far from him, and he exited the store while I was loading my stuff in the car so I could get a peek at him. He was all decked out in MAGA crap, too. Exactly what I expected.

I always say that other than that asshole, I don't remember any politician in our country having their portrait on protest to campaign signs like they do in other countries. It's also so comical that the sycophants put his face on the American Flag, which other than burning it, is the ultimate disrespect and desecration of it.
Edit- Okay so I looked it up and see Kennedy and Nixon turning up some results but even with those it was very generic looking and neither were on flags holding AR15s.

Back to the subject here! Yesterday was National Love Your freeloader pet day. My company did a little slide of employees and their pets for LinkedIn. I didn't do my picture, but Dresi is on the bottom center, and Snicky is sitting inside the logo!
