It also alleges that he tried to pressure a chief investigator in the Georgia secretary of state's office to speed up the Fulton County signature verification and that he took part in a phone call in which Trump pushed Raffensperger to "find" enough votes to reverse his narrow loss in the state. Raffensperger declined to do so.
This says to me that Meadows was working well outside of his federal responsibilities, and the first amendment doesn't even come into play here. Meadows can say whatever he wants - he's not immune to the consequences of those words.
And I say that they all could still be brought up on federal charges for this crime if Georgia doesn't get the job done, so Bring IT.
But if I were Meadows, I 100% would want this in Federal Court regardless of who is in office - cause it would be hell on earth to be jailed in a Georgia prison, even one for the rich.

I believe they are still state charges and he would still serve time in GA if convicted. Jennifer Rubin has a great column today discussing this exact thing (graduated first in her class from Berkeley Law). I’ll see if I can find it. She describes all the differences of the two courts.
Oddly, the federal court judge in that district is an Obama appointee. Kind of surprising that he prefers to take a chance on him rather than a Kemp appointee with one year under his belt.
Edited to correct law school.
