I agree with some of what he said, but at the same time there has to be some sort of 'rule of law' because otherwise all we have will be anarchy.
However, that doesn't in any way shape or form mean that the laws need to be checked regularly and inane or useless ones purged.

Given his opening line about their schedule ruling his constitutional rights spoke plenty to me about his context.
Anyway thought it might be though provoking. I think he earned his forwards.

Definitely thought-provoking for sure.
I get the time limits - some people will spew for hours if allowed. I think 5 minutes to get your main point across is reasonable. At the same time, there should also be a way to record your message and have it played during the meeting, for people who either can't be there in person or won't be allowed to speak because they didn't get there in time to sign up.
Maybe have a specific number of slots for recorded comments, a specific number for the meeting that you can sign up for in advance, and a smaller number for walk-ins. I don't know. What I do know is that these meetings are usually dominated by one group of people, because that side gets their people out and makes sure they come early enough to grab the available speaking slots. Spoke at one SB meeting discussing the Governor's school - out of 15-20 speakers, only two were for eliminating it. However, that was the one and only SB meeting I have ever attended, so now I look back and think that the only real reason I was there was because the Governor's school rallied parents of their students to come out.

If you are free to speak for 5 minutes, you are not free to speak. Even if your words fall upon deaf ears those that are sworn to serve the public should not be restricting what I have to say or how long it takes me to say it. If I want to fillibuster the spotsy schoolboard so be it. Trust me it's going to take more than 5 minutes for me to offer my thoughts in that room and some people are going to be highly offended but it will be the truth that offends them. We have several real honest to god miscreants running and running for various offices over here in the county and they really need to hear what a harsh and intelligent admonishment of their fuckery sounds like. And to those in attendance that might have some of the same ideas about that fuckery would be called right out in front with them. The time to appeal is over, it's time to demand better.
Remember "Beau" Of the Fifth Column? These are the people, like me (if I were to go public), that would be first to get rounded up for speaking truth to power in an authoritarian regime, which is what Joe Freedom is really talking about in that clip.
What we think of as freedom and what freedom really is are two entirely separate things. Our freedom is boxed and controlled by the the establishment he's addressing despite the blatant contradictions they impart on you and I every day and at the same time have work-arounds for when it applies to them..
