Man, woke up and it was BRRRR!
YES! I say! YES! I let the pooches out to pee and jubilantly run back inside to turn off the AC and fling the windows open.
Now of course it's 80 and I have to run around and reverse the entire process.
But man it felt good this morning for sure!

It felt like the season changing with those storms on Saturday and then this afternoon there was this gust of wind that despite the warm air, confirmed my suspension

Yes, the breeze was nice and a harbinger of fall! Of course in a few months, I'll be complaining about freezing my ass off!

My back was take me to the ER bad this morning so I'm not sure how much of the weather I'll be able to enjoy today. The previous couple of days were pretty nice and I was able to take them in somewhat, but hopefully it will be nice when I recover a little bit.

It's shedding weather!
Mr. Minx is building a shed. Yesterday one of our neighbors came over and helped get the walls in place and put the roof up. Still lots to be done, but also lots o progress.
Like you John, he feels that he can do a better job himself than having a contractor build it or getting a kit. So far, he's right.

It might be a gene because I'm continually amazed by how many people I know that don't and never have had any type of acumen for diy. I was learning about working on cars with my grandad just by sitting on the curb and watching. Couldn't have been 10 years old when I dissected my first cassette tape recorder to see how it all worked in there. I never met a tool in my life I didn't think I could handle with a few hours of practice.
But the real payoff isn't money saved or compliments, it's being able to visually see the result of your effort, standing over your work and saying to yourself "I did that". Sounds like your husband understands.

I am fairly incompetent when it comes to manually fixing something. But when I do manage to do it right, it is a great feeling.
I started quilting recently - just finished my first quilt. Took months of work, too many trips to the quilt shop, more re-cutting, ripping out seams, re-cutting and re-sewing than I care to admit, but man oh man was the end result worth it!
As we've discussed before, kids need to be introduced to these types of skills. Some (like me) may never want to saw another damn piece of wood in their lifetime. But others will say "Holy crap is this cool!" - they may not go on to do that as their living, but they'll probably have a ton of fun making stuff.
