My second ice maker bit the dust yesterday. It just kept on making a giant, unusable rack of ice and wouldn’t expel it. I proceeded to unpack my “backup” and discovered it was a HUGE industrial model, requiring a connection to a tap (or water source) and a floor drain, although the drain is pluggable. I should have realized when it was delivered and I couldn’t lift the box that it was wrong for me. Ugh.
I’ve found and ordered a new one but it won’t arrive until Saturday. So I’m destined to have my drinks warm. For now.

Would Instacart deliver ice? Maybe put in a diet coke order at a local grocer and add a 5lb of ice?

Hmmm. I really don’t need any Diet Cokes, but that is definitely an idea I can look into. I’m not sure where to put a bag of ice these days, though. My Yeti is on the deck, still, and I’m terrified of going out there due to all the rotting/termite infested flooring. And no way it will fit in my fridge. It’s only a couple days, so I should survive. And I noticed yesterday that I drank about one third less than usual and I had some ice that I saved in my fridge for part of that. So it will probably be a respite for me. But did it reduce the number of times or frequency that I had to rise to pee during the night? HELL, NO! And no way I can drink tepid water. My tap water is disgusting unless it is very very cold.
Edited to add: how Walmart considers this giant ice maker a “countertop” I can’t figure. I was looking at it sitting in my foyer today. It reminds me of those big server towers we used at work - those giant PCs with feet (yes, it has feet!). No way this would fit on any kitchen counter I’ve seen!

I could have used that sucker back in the day and it's own counter if need be. Nowadays the ice catcher has to be emptied every month because the ice dries out and clumps into a ball o' ice which ruin the crushed ice experience on the now rare occasion.

So do you have ice or not? We need to know!

Yes! The one I have now is super cheap - it’s a portable version of the first one I bought. It makes ice super fast, too! And, now that it is cooler, it isn’t running all day and night like the last one.

Houston, we have ice. Repeat, we have ice!
But is it the 'good ice'?

It’s not all clear, like the last one, but who cares? Sure it was pretty but some of the cubes weren’t well-frozen so didn’t last. Of course, the last few runs delivered ice that was so frozen I had to chip away with an ice pick to get any off of the huge chunk!
