Well, it may be time to do something about them. I’ve noticed the vision in my right eye has deteriorated. Dr. Church mentioned cataracts when I was there for visual field testing in August. I couldn’t see as well with my right eye as I could with my left. Tonight really brought it to the forefront. It was raining when I left for my appointment. I’ve never had an issue driving in the dark, but the rain made it very difficult for me this time. And I actually missed my driveway driving home! Holy shit!

Everyone says your vision really improves after the surgery because they can put a corrective lens in. So let us know!

It’s really frustrating right now, because my right eye vision is essentially the same as it would be if I were wearing glasses.
I go back in December. I’ll broach the subject then.

I was all set today to toss my contacts in the trash. Today is new lens day. I was dreading it, because I was getting exceptional vision from the latest pair, even the right eye vision was sharp. Put in the new pair and immediately noticed that the left eye vision was horrible for distance, but I could see up close - which is definitely not normal. Right eye was a bit funky, too, but not as bad as the left. I tried reseating them, adding drops, etc. but no change. Due to my extreme astigmatism, it sometimes takes a few minutes for the lenses to get in the correct position on the eye, so I decided to wait a bit before panicking. (The lens has a slot or line on each one, designating the “top” of the lens. I locate it each time I insert one and try to get it in the right place but they do move around a bit before latching on.). After about 90 minutes, I could no longer take it and went back upstairs to get a new pair. But then I noticed that the boxes were swapped - the one containing the right lenses was on the left and vice versa. So, I tried swapping the lenses that I was currently wearing and Voila! I can see! Holy crap - am I an idiot?!!!!

Nah - when I wore contacts I did that too.

So I went for my 4 month glaucoma checkup and everything is holding well. But, the visual field machine was acting up. I had to do the right eye twice, because it suddenly stopped recording. And in both eye tests, it seemed to get stuck and repeat the same pattern over and over and over and over. My most hated test and it took twice as long as normal. Ugh.

I have to admit that my last visit to Dr. Church was not all that and then some. Seemed more like he was going through the motions, and yet again not a technician there from the last visit.
I suppose I should look for a new Dr, but I'm lazy as hell right now.

Agree. He mumbles a lot, at least it seems to me. He was looking at my retinas and optic nerves and then mentioned, “I’ll need to keep an eye on that!” under his breath. I asked them if there was something going on with the optic nerve in my left eye and he said, “hold on! Let’s take a look at the big picture!” Then he started fumbling around on the computer and comparing photos from previous visits with today’s. “Everything looks good. No change! See you in 4 months!” Uh, wha?
I should be seeing a retina specialist but that would require driving to Charlottesville or Richmond. I already fret over going to the Burg these days (my car is no longer reliable), so I have been putting it off.

Yeah - last visit he was complaining about having to type notes on the computer. Don't know if it's overwork or personal.

Again, I had to nudge Dr. Church to respond to CVS’s faxes for refills. A few months ago, he ignored them when they asked for approval to refill my cyclosporine prescription. I just blew that off because I get at least 4 applications from each vile that is meant for one, so I have lots of spare. But this week, he ignored numerous attempts for approval of my glaucoma prescription. WTF?
At least I can just text them now. Their phone menu is confusing as fuck.

I stopped calling them unless I have no other choice - they never call back. And it pisses me off.
