She's in the hospital battling a life threatening case of pneumonia, and her family has started a gofundme that has raised over $450k.
Here's the million dollar question - with a reported net worth of $2 mil, why didn't she have health insurance? Rumors say that she was against the ACA so wouldn't get insurance through them, but that borders on insanity to me.
OTOH, she actively campaigned against the Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017 and pretty much helped cover up Larry Nassar's abuse. After she resigned from USA Gymnastics in 2018, she tried to backpedal by saying they hadn't been 'given all the facts'. Seems to me like the other gymnasts had gone public with them long before that.
I guess I'm just salty that someone worth $2 mil is benefiting from a huge gofundme, when people who are worth $200 dollars die in the street because they can't afford to even go to urgent care.

Obviously some people's bootstraps are big enough for everyone else to help pull up. The smaller your net worth the smaller the number of fingers fit in your bootstraps.
If she made it a political thing about the aca she can eat shit and suffocate on her self righteous indignation for all I care.

I tend to agree with you. My BIL and his family are Covid deniers. His stepson died from it, and it wasn't pretty (although it was pretty fast). No insurance, no will. And is widow is completely disabled.
Needless to say probate was fun. And my BIL took $100K out of his retirement to help them buy a single-wide and a small piece of land. So that money is gone. OTOH, even though BIL is an asshole, he does have a good heart, and he told his DIL that they would help for the rest of their lives when she needed it, starting by forgiving that loan so she'll have a home.
My other BIL probably put it best - we went up for the son's memorial service. He said that he couldn't stand his brother's political or worldviews, but this was probably going to be the last time he saw or talked to him, and the last time his family would be completely together, as the next time we would all see each other, one would be in an urn or coffin. Sad, but very true.
Nice person who would give someone the shirt off their back in person. But if he hasn't met you or talked to you personally, you can go to hell unless you hate migrants, gays and feel that BLM is composed of terrorists. Goes without saying that Trump is being persecuted bigly, and it wouldn't shock me at all to hear that he's donated what limited money he has to that asshole.

Ugh. They should have to put an asterisk on their gravestone.
I understand there are a lot of otherwise very good hearted people that are just extremely fucking stupid. Unfortunately we'd be in just as poor of shape if everyone were the exact opposite.

What's truly sad is that his wife did get the vax due to her health issues, but she and her family couldn't convince him to do the same even though he had asthma and was overweight.

So she's at home recovering less than a week after a 'major setback', and after being on a vent for at least a week.
My friend was on a vent for a week, and had to relearn how to eat and walk. She was in a rehab center for a month with PT every day.
Something doesn't feel right here. Wonder if we're going to hear about another tragic setback in a week or two with information about her funeral. Cause it sounds an awful lot like they took her home to spend her last days in comfort.
