Within a couple hundred feet on Smith station Rd right behind us. Fire and rescue came in hot to the people who live in the house directly behind us. Their house is right on Smith Station. The people that live there are elderly so I guess I just assumed it was a medical emergency. In a separate incident we heard what sounded exactly like a car crash in the same place. But after 10 minutes there were no cops, no sirens, flashing lights or anything. Traffic seemed to be going regular speed for that time of night and after not hearing any sirens for a while just assumed maybe they hit a deer or went in a ditch and gtfot aaap. Then about an hour later I see the 50 yellow lights of a wrecker slowing way down and turning on spot lights. Then I go to the side window which is always shuttered because it faces the neighbors house, peek out, and see blue lights. So I look it up on DMV 511 and sure as shit there's a bulletin that both lanes on SS are closed for a traffic incident.
Had to go out for a small errand earlier today and saw where the car had slid off the road up a small embankment, took out some ornamental pines and a few sections of our subdivision fence along the road. But the mind blowing thing was hearing chainsaws this morning stepping outside and seeing a giant crane over the elderly folks house picking a giant tree out of their roof. I also drove past and there were 5 trucks and a crane so I'm guessing they weren't hurt since it was literally less than 12 hours to get crews there to handle it and it's already tarped.
