One of these days, I’m going to knock myself completely out!
Another fall, this time down the 3 steps into the garage. Most of the pain right now is in my right shin, although I am discovering many new bumps and bruises as the evening passes. I haven’t looked at my right leg yet. (And my right knee was very loud all night last night, keeping me awake with its ruckus and pain until about 10 am. Not looking forward to the agony tonight.)
But I also slammed my head on the garage floor. I’m just posting this here in case you don’t hear from me for a few days.

Sounds like it's time to start looking into a 1BR at Shady Acres.

Nope. I’ll die here and let the fucking ants and mice have me for dinner.
I was worried last night that I had fractured my tibia - maybe a hairline or something similar. (Thank goodness the swelling is just above the ankle - don’t want to go through that again!). There is quite a lot of swelling and pain, but no bumps, bruising or scrapes. After about 12 hours, the pain has become more tolerable. I’m wearing a loose diabetic sock, so as not to constrict blood flow in that leg for now.

It’s just more pain and misery added to my day. I’ve come to expect it now. I know it will never get better, but will definitely get worse.
At least we are back to a beautiful fall day today!

Maybe YOU are, but it's drizzly and cold here. 47 degrees....
Although this is more like the weather we should be having. But I'm complaining anyway!

We desperately need rain, so I’m happy we got something - even a little drizzle. And yes, I’m happy because hoodie weather is back! I fall asleep faster under my heated blanket, too. And, I feel better in cooler weather overall.
My Christmas decorations arrived today. You should have seen me hauling in those cases of tp. My balance is so bad, it’s difficult for me to carry a large box without falling over. 🤣🤣 That’s exactly what happened on Tuesday when I fell - I was taking a Tovala box out to the garage and lost my balance.

I always do, but usually just one case. This year, I ordered 2 - one for upstairs as well as downstairs. I managed to get the downstairs case stowed away, but tonight I have to wrestle the upstairs one up my Mt. Everest, which is no easy chore these days.
Bruising is finally starting to appear on my shin. I have quite a bit of scar tissue on my shins from the cellutis and “wound treatment” I received from breaking up that dog fight. Yes, the scarring is still a bit painful after all these years. I’m guessing it blocked the blood flow for a bit so it didn’t show until now. The bruises on my wrists and elbows have already turned from blue to a purplish brown. The swelling is still persist though, along with the pain. As long as I stay in one position, the pain will eventually ebb to a throb. But when I move - YIKES! Particularly from lying down to standing. Yowzer.

A funny incident re WGAC: I was disputing a charge on my Apple Card a couple days ago (that’s my favorite thing about this card. Disputes are so easy! So, yes, I disputed a $1 charge! I didn’t initiate it, so why not?). Anyway, the tech asked if there were any other recent charges that were unusual. I said no. And she said, “What about Who Gives A Crap?” And I told her that was tp, and went on to explain that it was ecological and they also donated a portion of their profits, etc. She thanked me for the info and wanted to check them out. All done via text.

That's great! Did you tell her about your new 'tree' too?
Saw a FB ad, and it does look cute!

10+ days and no relief. Sometimes I think the swelling is increasing. And very little sleep. I’m a side sleeper (my back will not tolerate sleeping on it). So my legs touch, which sets off huge bouts of pain. Last night, I Ted using a pillow between my knees and lower legs. It helped, a little. But it didn’t stop the sudden waves of pain that seem to occur for no reason.
Just heard some guns shooting outside. Maybe I can find them so they can put me out of my misery.
At least the temp has climbed to 61 here today. (Yes, the downstairs is now colder than upstairs!)

Amazingly, I’m moving a bit better today after getting a little bit of sleep last night! The swelling has now spread to my ankle/foot, causing a lot of pain yesterday from my shoe/sweat pants (there is a large band at the bottom of the leg). Today, I switched to crocs and a baggy pair of sweats (so baggy, they won’t stay up🤣🤣). And last night, I ended up having to remove the anklet on my right foot (it was a Bombas, not a compression sock) because it was causing ankle pain.
Once the swelling subsides enough to fit, I’m going to start using the boot I wore after 10+ months in a cast when I shattered every bone in my ankle. There may be some bone issues (cracks/breaks) but I’m trying everything to avoid being in a cast for the next year.

Well, that ended quickly. After about 8 or nine hours the really bad stuff returned with a vengeance, resulting in another bad night. My foot was swollen from toe to ankle, too. No more crocs. Today I’m wearing 2 different shoes, hoping to get a handle on the swelling. I need to take the trash and recycling out today, so I want more support than crocs provide, too.

should we see if we can find you a male version of one of those "Real Dolls"? I doubt they're much help around the house but might give you a more interesting place to land when you go down!

Still wearing 2 different shoes, but I’m back in the better-fitting sweats. I’m trying to get a handle on the swelling, because that’s where most of the pain is coming from. My foot was actually down to nearly normal a couple days ago, but no longer there now. But the worst is when I change orientation - lie down vs standing/sitting. Holy shit does my leg complain. It takes hours for the pain to get subside enough that I can sleep. There are a couple very tender places on my leg that I can barely touch, but when I lie down in bed, waves of pain just emanate from those areas. And my whole leg tenses up so much that the muscles start to spasm. When I get up for my first pee, as soon as I hang my leg over the side of the bed, a new wave comes. It takes my breath away, but I’ve come to expect it now and just wait it out. Then, after the first pee is usually when the restless legs start. If, by some miracle, the pain is low I don’t want to move to induce more but I just cannot fight the urge to move my legs and it starts all over again. This morning I didn’t drop off to sleep until after 0600 (I got in bed around 0200).
Yesterday, I was cutting open a Dominos bag that contained Diet Coke (sometimes they tie the bag closed) and sliced my finger with a box cutter. After I finally got the bleeding to stop, I went to unpack the Tovala delivery, and stabbed my finger with the box cutter right in the same fucking spot! Holy shit I’m such a klutz!

I must be healing. Some areas are starting to itch. I’m back in both New Balance shoes again! And, back in my better fitting pants (had to ditch them for the loose ones after slicing my finger. The drawstring waist on the tighter ones is very short and difficult to tie with good fingers. My left index finger would start bleeding again every time I tied my pants. 🤣🤣🤣). I still have some tender areas so cannot yet tolerate the boot. But I put on a heavier sock today and so far no screaming from the leg. I wonder if that weird swollen spot just above the scar tissue on my shin will ever go away?

I had to pull out the coconut oil today. My leg is peeling so bad, it looks like the remnants of a horrible sunburn. And it’s been going on for a couple weeks! Big enormous chunks of skin. Every morning and evening I pick it off. That’s how bad the swelling was - the skin died because of it.
There’s still that weird bulge above the scar tissue but the pain has pretty much subsided, allowing for all the other painful areas to come to the forefront.
