Dems take control in Va. (ha ha, Youngkin!) Ohio votes for abortion and weed. Beshear is re-elected. Despite my extremely swollen leg, I am feeling much better. Tears of relief.

Because I have been talking about it.... all of the miscreants here in Spotsy were beaten bigly. The Biggest Loser, Nick Ignacio still got nearly 8800 votes which is 8700 more than the capacity of Sourmelts. But the incumbent, Christy Jett, received over 32,000! for about 77% of the vote. Haven't seen the totals yet for Sheriff but Roger Harris, who was labeled as "woke" by the other guy and all his goons around town, had double the votes as the Biggest Liar, S Maxwell. And yes Minx, one Mr. Twigg was voted OUT! GONE! I think it was a good night for our schools and hopefully the next move will be to remove and replace the idiot asshat in the middle seat.
Very encouraged by the results statewide and hopefully the new legislature gets back to the work of governing for the people of the state and not the PACs.
Other than that, I hope Gov Youngkin et al enjoys their meal- bitter crow.

First of all thanks to all the gods that the good guys have mostly won this round.
Two disturbing things for me though.
In the 27th, Tara Durant was running against Joel Griffin. Monica Gary was also on the ballot as an independent. Durant won, and the margin of difference pretty much came down to the votes for Gary.
Biden and friends better be paying close attention to that, as several want to throw their hats in the ring as 'independents' this go round. And that tends to hurt dems more than repubs. I do want people to run as independents, and truly feel we should have more choices. But that does mean that the dems will have to work harder to get their message across, which many of them have not been doing.
But voting went smoothly yesterday, and the majority of the people were sane. And in Spotsy, voters came to their senses and the polls thank god!
We had none other than the esteemed governor himself visit our small patch of the woods. Motorcade and all. His advanced staff guy was very nice and professional, and they all stayed in their lane, and I made sure we stayed in ours. Interestingly enough, everyone in the motorcade, with the exception of the LEO who was the advance officer (he came first to let me know that the governor was on his way) had to stay in the lane too. I thought his guard detail would be allowed to roam, but they had to stay by him and not stray towards our side of the fence.
But they all obeyed the rules, and since they really didn't make a big press announcement that he'd be there, there wasn't a crowd (my biggest worry, as I didn't want to deal with crowd control). And the only other 'issue' was that I had to keep reminding one of my workers that he was a sworn officer of elections and was NOT allowed to go over to have a photo op with the governor. What part of 'impartial and unbiased' did you miss in the training dude?
But this one is in the books. On to the presidential primaries.

A prime example of why it's good to have more than two candidates and at least one other than the 2 parties. Because competition tends to make the owners try harder to earn your business.

For sure. And the dems should look back and remember that Ross Perot cost Gore the presidency in 2000, because they got too complacent.

And I helped.
I'm not particularly more or less proud of it than most of my votes up to that election. Was younger, had not quite checked-in to a larger just yet. Funny, I think I remember voting for Ralph Nader once. I was always into truth-telling, fact-speak, so that explains the yin to my "lie to me about how good we have it" yan.

Perot came the closest to giving us a third party option. I can't remember what major policy he was running on that I disagreed with, but I do remember that I didn't vote for him because of his policies, not out of general principle.
And it's sad and frustrating that things worked out like they did for that election, because I think it truly shut down most people's idea of running as a third party candidate since Perot was 100% blamed for Gore losing.
But that truly was the original 'stolen election' case, wasn't it - those hanging chads and the courts took the election from Gore. Time to riot and destroy the government.....

Yeah imagine how innocent that all seemed by comparison ........................... are you imagining yet?
The libertarian party has had some prime opportunities and I 100% believe The Reform Party were dismantled by the FEC.
Perot's hot button issue was government spending/debt/deficit iirc. In the second election he told Clinton that just because he ran the country store didn't qualify him to run Walmart. I was so fucking impressed by that for ALL the connotations in so few words.
