Or maybe the correct question is WTF?
So Trump took the stand in his civil trial, and the judge and prosecutor pretty much allowed him to rant, rave and run the show. A walking, talking commercial for his campaign. Erdogan wasn't going to give him a fair hearing, both she and James did nothing at all to stop him, other than telling his lawyer to 'control his client' once or twice.
Meanwhile Trump was able to simply sit there and air his claim that this was sooooo unfair, and he was being persecuted for no reason then actually being forced to stay in his lane and actually testify. And James did almost nothing to stop him it seems.
So the liberals think that he was totally owned and is toast.
I suspect the reality is that he just gave his followers yet more of what they lust after - their hero!
Ugh.

James was in the courtroom, but was not interrogating him.
And, why not give him rope to hang himself? There’s no jury to influence and no cameras to play to. And gagging him further, again, could give the defense a reason for an appeal. That’s what they are doing now - setting up their appeal strategy.

I say let him appeal - you know he's going to anyway, so why not hold him to the rule of law?
Show that NO citizen of the US is above the law and we truly are all equal - HA!
And his rantings may cost him cash (that he will never pay), but it gains him love amongst the loyal - and seeing as he has a stronghold on the Republican party, anything that can increase that shouldn't be allowed in a court of law. This is simply wrong.

I thought I posted a response already but apparently it was failed internet fail on my part.
What I heard was that the prosecutors are confident that he'll hang himself with his mouth and they're probably not wrong.

He’s openly confessed to many crimes. Often and bigly.

This is a man who was elected and has overwhelming support despite things like these:
1) Raping a woman on an elevator (Jean Carroll) and smearing her character when she went public with it. 2) Groping and harassing numerous other women. 3) Paying a porn star hush money to keep their trysts secret. 4) Bragging about being able to simply 'grab women by the pussy' and have his way with them. 5) Filing numerous business bankruptcies. 6) Hiring contractors then refusing to pay them. 7) Refusing to accept the results of a free and fair election. 8) Doing nothing to stop an armed attack on the nation's capitol for over 3 hours, despite pleas for help.
Does anyone honestly think that this civil trial is going to do anything to reduce his support among the faithful? Letting him take the stand and rant on only allows him to preach his gospel of hatred to the masses to reinforce his martyrdom.
He 100% has a constitutional right to testify in his own defense. That doesn't mean that he's allowed to go on an extended rant about how this is all so unfair.
Any other person and the prosecutor and judge would be cutting them off and saying "Answer yes or no - did you speak with an accountant about the value of this property?"

I 100% agree that he is literally the only person in the entire world that can get away with it. He told you that 8 years ago when he said he could kill someone in broad daylight on wall st and get away with it. We better figure out why that is.
