I don't get why everyone is so up in arms about him leaving. He was never a reliable vote in the senate, and I honestly think he was going to change his party affiliation, but decided he might as well try to run for president as a democrat.
Yeah, it hurts the vote count in the Senate, but all the more reason for the Dems to go to states in contention and work like dogs to make sure folks understand what's at stake. They've been too complacent, and need to get off their asses.
And I don't see any campaign of his hurting Biden - most people know he's a two-faced asshole by now.

He would probably do more damage to the (D)s as an (I) than Kennedy, which appears to only appeal to (R)s at this point. Question: Will the Democrats even have anyone to primary against Biden or will they do like the other party and not require him to participate in the process/earn the party's nomination?

I don't remember the process offhand, but don't you have to get XX amount of the primary vote to be considered?
And it's stupid hard to get on the ballot in the first place, so that takes out a lot of folks.
We really need to just go to ranked choice voting for both the primary and general.
In the primary, make it easier to get on the ballot. Voters get a list of names and choose three.
The top three go on to the general election.
Hopefully will provide some new blood and better choices.
But nothing will change until we have true campaign finance reform, and PACS are abolished. So we won't see it in our lifetimes for sure.

I don't remember. Things change from election to election. We've already talked about Perot and how the two parties that run the FEC tried to make it so that the federal elections remain between one dem and one rep. But I also remember that guy named Alan Keyes who sued them because they wouldn't let him in the debates despite qualifying for the ballot in every state. He was a R.

SNL had a great cold open on the Republican Debate.
They're all up there slinging insults when Trump comes out and starts talking about how the debate is a waste of time, because HE will be the nominee. He then goes off on rants about the other candidates, his trials, his kids ect.
Funny, but way too accurate.
