Snipped from Heather Cox Richardson's column this morning.
One person interviewed said, “I can’t really speak to anything [Biden] has done because I’ve tuned it out, like a lot of people have. We’re so tired of the us-against-them politics.” Roberts points out that “both sides” are not extremists, but many Americans have no idea that the Democrats are actually trying to govern, including by reaching across the aisle. Roberts notes that the media focus on the right wing enables the right wing to define our politics. That, in turn, serves the radical right by destroying Americans’ faith in our democratic government.
And yeah, I 100% blame the media and social media for this. Trump farts and it's on the national news. Meanwhile, almost nothing on what his speeches mean for the American People - 'we will remove the vermin from society' - almost exactly what Hitler and other demagogs have said before mass genocides are started. See Rwanda, Sudan and Myrammar. And I should add China as well, as we all know that the Uygyur people are enemies of the state. Currently Israel has vowed to wipe Hamas off the face of the earth, which seems to involve slaughtering people in hospitals who don't seem to have anything to do with Hamas.
And of course all we hear about is Biden's age and all the times he makes a slip up or trips walking up stairs.
So people are sick of politics and think 'Both sides are the same". And most don't see a need to vote next year.
Sigh...

Pretty sure this echoes the sentiments I've expressed here for quite some time especially when it comes to the far left and far right dominating the narratives being pushed. The perception is that the far right narrative is somehow the prevailing one currently, and I can see why, as social media is more or less dominated by the lowest common denominator of society. For example: This morning while going through my usual routine of news, fb, fug, etc.... and while watching a couple of toks one came up that was obvious to me, like right away, as being fake. It had some still pictures of a NFL referee and also some players kneeling. It was captioned that the ref had thrown out "all 10 players for kneeling during the na. There were thousands of "likes" and comments, 99% of which were people hailing the ref, thanking god, posting emoji pics of the flag, approving of what was something entirely contrived.
How foolish is blind trust in general, let alone on shit you see on the internet? How stupid can you be? History is repeating itself. 1930s style. That war was us vs fascism and less than 100 years later its at our doorstep.
The REAL question that rarely if ever gets addressed is; Who makes that content? The internet and social media in particular is littered with the modern equivalent of Goebbels's pamphlets all day every day. It's coming from people and places that know how gullible people can be and use it as a political tool to manipulate and thereby control said prevailing narrative. Trump gets so much attention precisely for this reason.

Agreed.
I just saw one where a popular writing website that encourages creative writing was allowing adults to groom teens on the teen forum, and of course the web admins did nothing, so we all needed to bombard them. No collaboration of any evidence of course.
