Cooler weather ahead after today. I may need to turn on some heat. I was hoping to make it until next month but I’m not sure I can tolerate temperatures under 55 comfortably.

Our sweet spot is 68 right now. I can do cooler at night by a couple of degrees but not much. She can't, so 68 it is for now. Probably going to light the pilot on the fireplace this weekend but what I really need is to get one of the chil'rens over here to crawl under the house to shut off the outside water spigots. how much you wanna bet that call goes unanswered?

It’s 57 in here now (downstairs). AC is still on upstairs and I still use the ceiling fan regularly. It runs on low during the night but I turn it up to medium at sunrise (sometimes high, depending on how warm it gets). Yes, I’m using the heated blanket for sleep but it’s set on a low number right now.

It's down to 42 and it's almost noon.
I'm inside with a hoodie. House is at 68, so I can't complain.
Well I can, cause pooches want to go outside still and won't let us toilet train them!

Yeah, I’ve been using the hood the past couple days. No hair means heat escapes faster. My hands are freezing right now. Walking into my bathroom was like entering an igloo! Getting up to pee during the night and having to sit on the toilet is an awakening experience.
It’s 53 right now on the main floor.
The good news is that the package that FedEx delivered to the wrong house was delivered today. But, wherever it was delivered must have been unprotected because it’s sopping wet. I had to unpack it outside (it was protein shakes, so no damage), making my hands that much colder.
Now I need to get the trash and recycling out. Since it’s already dark, I think I’ll wait until it stops raining.

Have you tried fingerless gloves - I find they help a lot with cold hands.

I have a pair but haven’t tried them yet. Having Reynaud’s, I’m not sure they would do the trick since it’s the fingers that are cold (and the nose, ears, toes, etc.). My fingers actually turn blue at times.

Just did. I made it to the 29th but all that money I was trying to save is now being eaten up by emergency heat.

Does the heat pump not work correctly or are you talking about the emergency heat coming on to get the house warm enough for the heat pump to work?

It is probably not working correctly, as I never had it checked out during the summer when it wasn’t cooling. But I turned it on emergency heat because it was fucking 53 degrees in here and 34 outside. You’re supposed to use emergency heat once the temp drops below 40, right? After 6+ hours, it’s now 57. So, I’m thinking there may be an issue. But regardless, anytime emergency heat runs, it costs more. I was hoping to make it to the warm up so the house wouldn’t be so cold when I turned on the heat. Stupid plan, I know.

Your bill will be super high if you set it on EM, even for recovery like when you decide "hey I think 57 is cold enough I want it to be 67". If it took that long for EM heat to only bring the inside temp up, I'm thinking you have a problem with the heat and getting it checkout out and fixed might actually save you money. If you be needin someone, the guys that just did our AC last month were great, but not sure if they service your area. T. It’s a balmy 62 in here. It’s lovely! 🤣🤣🤣
Before I call someone, I need to hobble out to the backyard and clear out all the crap around the compressors.

We are now up to 66. Yesterday, I turned the heat from emergency to regular, but emergency was still running. I turned the thermostat down to 65 just to make it stop today. My electric bill was $76 for this month (November) but over the past 3 days, I’ve already racked up $10+ in electric usage. I can live with 65. Until I feel strong enough to get the back cleared. It’s the falling that terrifies me.
