Dark Brandon's pardon of "1000's" of folks convicted of mary jo wanna possession, and the way I understand it, "use". I wasn't even sure there was such as crime as actually consuming it.
Anyway, this could open up a can of worms that's been a long time coming. Only a fool would believe that the pardons constitute legalization. However, it makes me wonder how many fools might just take it that way and how far will the ones with standing be willing to take their cases.
During his campaign and or shortly after the election, Biden said he had no desire to legalize weed. This is absolutely a departure from that and obviously the cynic in me wants to say it's pandering. On the other hand, if he were to take it one step further and produce an EO either legalizing, decriminalizing, or perhaps even ordering the FDA/DEA to downgrade it from a Schedule 1 narcotic to like, Nyquil, he would make a whoooooooole lot of people happy and see his approval rating go up at least 5 points.
My hope is that this was just him doing the right thing. No one should be incarcerated for simple possession of something less dangerous than alcohol, and far less of a threat to public safety.

I hope it's a step towards him doing the full right thing - not necessarily legalization, but having the FDA start running actual studies on the medical effects, and telling the DEA to drop it as a schedule 1.
And more pardons - lots of people got convicted of possession when they were simply smoking in public.
I 100% believe that marihuana has a lot of positive uses, but we'd be fools to believe that it doesn't have side effects for certain people, or when combined with certain drugs. It doesn't relax me - quite the opposite as a matter of fact, so I would be one of those who shouldn't use it. And it can be addictive, just like alcohol is.
But more to the point, I'd just like some research to help point people in the right direction. Friend has Crohn's, and uses the magic weed to help with her spasms. However, she had to go through several strains to find the one that worked best for her. Would be nice if she could have something that said "XX is the recommended strain, and it's better used in a tobacco form rather than an edible".
If it was decriminalized and sold the same way alcohol was (in a licensed dispensary), I think we'd have a lot fewer problems.

I want full legalization and it's not for my benefit but because I hate the nanny-state. I want less control over what the government decides for me, for you, and for everyone when it comes to what they put in, take out, re-arrange, decorate, etc their bodies. That being said I think it's extremely important to have a regulating authority that works for the people, not the industries, in determining baseline standards so that when I take poison at least I will know that I'm taking poison. As long as the decision to take it is still mine.
Unfortunately the government takes misuse and abuse by some and applies restrictive and rules to everyone based on the actions (and as we're discussing, conditions) of others. Similarities exist in many other situations, like gun control for example. It makes absolutely no sense that I can't get a bottle of cough syrup off the shelf without a background check and that might seem like hyperbole but it's really not that far from reality.
As far as weed strains go, I seriously doubt the government is going to invest a dime in determining who would benefit by what. To me, that would be done through research and developement, and in some sort of trials. But as it is the kid at a weed store in Denver will be able to tell you better than most anyone else which strain you might like or benefit from after asking you a few simple questions.

The only restriction I would place is the same one for cigarettes and vaping - you can't buy on your own till you're 18.
If you need it for medical reasons, you'd have a doctor's prescription and a parent or guardian would fill it for you. And it goes without saying that if that is the case, then your damn insurance company should be the ones coughing up the cash (hahahahaha!).
Don't get me started on cough medicine and baby formula.
