I read one of the Grafton Village groups a few days ago. There was a very large police presence in the area. They were searching for a man that ran from a traffic stop. He was wanted in several jurisdictions, one of them for murder. They failed to locate him at the time. Now another murder has occurred in the area, and he is a suspect! Holy shit!

Yep. That’s the one! I believe he is wanted for another murder as well?

Did they find him?
And John, this is one of the situations where I'm in favor of releasing a name - someone knows this dude and might be able to help the police find him.

That's the same exact justification I used with the minor. One obvious difference is this guy has warrants for murder so there really is a point in which the public should be informed.

To me the difference is that the minor is already under arrest, so no need for a manhunt.
If this mofo was under arrest as well, I'd feel the same.

So if they arrest Don Jr, Jared, Eric, Ivanka et al we don't need to hear anymore about them? After all, they are innocent until proven guilty and they'll be trying to throw every charge they can and see what sticks.... it could even endanger Melania and Baron.

Hey, if I never hear the name Trump again, I'd pay someone cash!
I will admit to being on the fence - they're public figures so perhaps we all have a right to know they've been indicted. But they still need to have the benefit of the doubt until their trial is done.

On The Spotsy Talk facebook page one of the admins always posts the local arrest blotter. I was reading it the other day and don't you know, the FIRST name on the list was a guy I know, arrested for being drunk in public. The categories are ALCOHOL, ASSAULT, and other categories obviously alphabetized which is why he was in the first category and probably just a coincidence his name was first.
So anyway, where do you stand on the police releasing the names and ages along with the arresting officer and the charges? And that information being published publicly? I'm not even sure there's a disclaimer about all being presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
I remember once upon a time the Free Lance Fishwrap used to publish names of people that applied for CCPs and was one of the many reasons I was and still am against that being required, while other people were defending it as our right to know. The difference is one is compliance with the law the other is for people that broke the law.

Yeah - I am against the whole arrest blotter. Just because you were brought in on charges of speeding doesn't mean that the DA is going to actually charge you and bring the case to any sort of adjudication.
Should be for convictions (I would allow indictments by a grand jury as well).
So Alan Dickhead was convicted on one count of speeding in Spotsylvania General Court. Steven Asswipe was indicted on 3 counts of fraud in Stafford General Court.
And yeah, while I feel the requirements for a CCP are kind of ridiculous, it's that person's right to get that licensure and not my business. They don't publish the folks who get a driver's license after all.

He was taken into custody today, according to an FLS headline I read.
