Went to dinner with one of my conservative friends who isn't bat-shit crazy and won't vote for Trump. In 2020, she did a write-in for none of the above because she's not a Biden fan either. I can respect that.
Anyway, she's all for Nikki. Why? Because one of her campaign platforms is bringing trades back into schools. Um yeah.
I have seen worse reasons to vote for president, but she has no understanding that her friend Glenn in Richmond and his counterparts throughout the country are the ones who should be spearheading that charge.
And in fairness, she's not alone - how many people on both sides of the aisle have a lack of understanding of how government works? How many in Spotsy cared or paid attention to school board elections before that asshole Twigg and his cronies got control of things?
We have such a dearth of Civics education in this country and it's dangerous. Couple that with Congress and the Senate completely unable to come to an agreement on anything, and you end up giving the President and Supreme Court powers they have no real right to have.
I really wish the House Democrats would not only call out the loons in the Freedom Caucus, but call out the others as well. And do it by name too. "Rob Wittman has always been a representative who has his district at heart. It's disturbing to see him cave to the radicals who want to dismantle services he has fought for in the name of chaos. I truly expect better from him and I am disappointed."
And keep doing it to others - long time congressmen and women who used to be somewhat rational who are bowing before lunatics. Hell, I'd even go as far as to buy ads in his district letting feds know that he has no problem putting them out of work and using them as puppets to allow MTG and her ilk to play with their livlihood.
Will never happen, but it's past time for the Dems to grow a set and put our country ahead of politics. And sadly, the only way they can do that right now is to go lower - this isn't politics as usual anymore.

It's whatever at this point. Do you really want to spend your energy explaining things to people especially when it's not going to sink in? Or lead to a shouting match? At least the friend isn't in the cult and (here we go) giving her the benefit of the doubt, maybe the issue she's latching on to is important enough to her that she's looking at the big picture instead of focusing on the local channels....
One thing for sure is you'll never hear that insufferable former SOE DeVos ever advocate for anything like career training in public schools. Therefore you could rest assured that the fed wouldn't have boosted funding or mandated anything to the states that don't have programs along those lines.
Yeah Ii reaching just a little bit. I just want Trump to lose in the worst kind of way that I would've bought that friend's dinner for saying she's voting for Haley. I can hypothetically live under 4 years of Haley before I can take Day One of Donald again.

Oh yeah - I wasn't going to get into it. And I do agree that we need a better track for trades in schools. Along with a push for business to stop requiring a damn college degree for just about everything - let folks with a HS diploma start at entry level and have a path to work up to more.
So we're definitely in agreement on that.

I assume you realize we're not voting for the POTUS, but the nominee for the Republican Party. You have Ramalamadingdong, DeSucksit, and Know a Girl Named Nokki....... and of course, the Donald. Only one of the other three have a snowballs chance of hades to beat the Donald in the VA primary.

I doubt any of them can, given the results of the Iowa Caucus. Extremely depressing.
I say we deport them all to Florida, Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. Grant liberals in those state asylum and give them money to relocate.
Then cut those states loose and tell them they're the country of Dumbfuckastan.

Depressing is one word for it. I'm going to struggle with accepting that there's any other reason for anyone, anywhere, in any voting booth, to pull the lever for him, other than being both mentally and morally unstable.
We might as well assume he's going to be on the November ballot and better start right now with getting people to understand a few basic things about the mere prospect of that happening. Forget about if he is elected. How was it even possible for him to run? How was it even possible for him to be nominated? How is it that the United States of America has even a fraction of citizen voters stupid enough to think that he's anything less than a massive fraud, conman, and the biggest danger to our democracy since it was founded?

Went ahead and posted that on the facebook. Hope Zuck gets to read it. Maybe he'll share it with the great wizard over there at twit.
Anyway, I'm truly hoping for some reactions from those that disagree. Most of them don't have any idea that I'm a radical moderate that votes Democrat, mainly because of the direction of far right conservatives like them. I'm ready to go to the ground with literally anyone at this point. Not because I'm a this or a that, but because all of our children's and their children's future demands it.
You are either with us or you're with the cultists. American Flag emoji.

See if any of them have the guts to respond publicly. The only negative comments I received were folks who IMed me. Probably because they're too chicken shit to openly admit that they're going to vote for Trump.

Probably because they're too chicken shit to openly admit that they're going to vote for Trump. Not likely on either account. The ones I didn't delete have probably deleted me. But I did make the post public so it could be shared. We'll see. But coincidentally, someone mistook me for someone they could arbitrarily declare "we need Trump" to this afternoon. He has now been properly educated on why it's better to keep your dumb shit to yourself than share it with complete strangers.

Well, I feel slightly better- 50% of eligible republicans in Iowa didn't vote. So if the Dems come out and those folks stay home, there may be a chance.
I also read a poll saying that when Republican voters are shown a list of Trump's 30 top priorities (based on his campaign speeches) they support less than 8 of them - most having to do with abortion, limiting LQBTQ+ rights, restricting immigration.
So maybe Biden needs to hammer back on those 30 priorities hard - just list them and ask the simple question - do you want to live in a nation that does this?

Don't read too much into any of that stuff. They had a blizzard and I'm sure the ones voting for him already figured he had it in the bag, which he apparently did, so why risk their lives. Can't dismiss either as probables for the low turnout.
As for the 30 policies, I don't thing the average MAGAt really gives two fucks about his policies. We've discussed how it's a cult and in cults it's way more about the messenger than the message. He knows exactly how to appeal to the lowest common denominator and that's going to play out pretty much the same as long as he's got the media's undivided attention.
I'm sure we'd all like to be able to rest a little easier knowing his support has taken enough of a hit to where his viability as a candidate for that office is far less than what it would take to unseat Biden. Yes, I want to believe that but can't. He should've never won in 2016 no matter how much Hillary was disliked and how many Bernie Bots hurt her chances. Sidebar: I wonder if they learned their lesson considering what happened and what has been happening ever since.

I have an app that shows me my mail before it comes. I used it a lot back when we had a PO Box so I didn't have to drive a half hour or more only to find an empty mailbox, or 2 yards of bullshit. Anyway, Haley has ANOTHER postcard coming today. It'll be the 3rd one. Haven't gotten anything from anyone else yet.
I was sorry to see Christie drop out. His short speech afterwards was the truth that everyone needs to see and hear, although much of it was the gist of his campaign's focus. I'd have definitely given him my vote for the primary based on his anti-criminal position, and like Haley, could live with 4 years of either of them vs the criminal if that's what the voters decided in Nov.. DeSantis is almost as much of a nightmare as the former criminal in chief.

Yeah, not a huge Christie fan, but he was the best of that bunch for sure.
To me, Haley would cave to the MAGA faction the moment she stepped into office. Her campaign pretty much seems to revolve around her taking down the confederate flag while governor of SC, and knowing foreign policy because she was the ambassador to the UN.
But yeah, I'd take her over DeSantis for sure.
Haven't gotten any mailings yet thank god.

I see where Herr Drumph is now birthering Haley and using slurs. I wonder if he knows Jesus wasn't an American and neither were his parents. Probably not. "Hey Zues Of Nazereth", go back to your shithole country with the criminals and prostitutes".

At this point maybe we're better off if he gets the nomination because I think Biden will absolutely slaughter him. Which would be nice if he used a SEAL team because he'd be immune, too.

He's also saying that Nikki planned the Jan 6th insurrection and was in charge of the security arrangements.
But yup, he's fit for office.
