Ain't no one gonna stop us! Oops....
I will say that I loved the tweet from the Nebraska State Police over the weekend.
'Just a friendly reminder that pouring gasoline on the snow and lighting it on fire is not a good method for clearing snow. It is also illegal - we shall be visiting your neighborhood shortly - you know who you are, and now so do we!'
Not sure if it's real, but it did crack me up!

I'm just a wee not-amused by the Stafford Police Depts attempts at humor lately. There was one the other day where someone pulled a hit n run, and the victim totalled their car chasing after the hitter/runner. The report was, let's say, sophomoric at best. If I had to choose between cops and criminals obviously I'm going to choose cops. But they don't need to play basketball with the neighborhood kids or dance on tik tok for my affection because they ain't gonna get it.

Yeah - I don't mind the joking around outside of actual crimes like the post from the Nebraska police.
But in terms of an actual crime, I expect the police to be professional and business-like.
And I honestly don't think that playing with the kiddos or going viral with your team dance does shit to deter crime.
Most of the humorous posts that I like are fairly short and revolve around reminding people to take safety precautions on the roads or during holiday celebrations.

According to the feds, humor on traffic signs is not allowed! I really enjoyed seeing those quips on the interstate signs, but they will be gone by next year.

On all roads or just interstates?
We saw one a few years ago in Ohio that said, and I have to paraphrase because I don't remember the exact wording [Ohio has wonderful places to camp but the left lane is not one of them]. I know D will get a kick out of that one.

Interstates definitely - not sure about state roads.
And I do like the signs - the small humor does make you read and pay attention a little more. If they are actual traffic incidents, the signs aren't humorous - they point out accidents and to move over, or that there is a delay. That's how it should be.
But if traffic is fine and there are no alerts, I don't see a problem with the signs having a little bit of humor while reminding folks to slow down or drive sober.

But also, another distraction. Just sayin.

That's what the feds are saying. Too distracting, so no humor on the signs.
If they're going that route, then they should say the signs have to be off unless it's important traffic information. And important information doesn't include putting the distance to the next major exit and the time to get there if it's under a 10 minute delay.
I know it probably isn't kept track of, but I'd be curious to see how many accidents occur within one mile of those signs. Something tells me it's not statistically significant.

Agree. Nobody needs to know how many minutes to go how many miles. They already have their phones in hand if they need to know minor details.
