Friend volunteers at an animal shelter near where she lives in PA.
She came home with a cat. Cat seemed lonely, so husband said "We need a friend for her."
Then the shelter manager said they needed foster parents and she clearly loved the cats to bits and was very responsible. Would she be willing to foster two kittens?
Now they have 4 cats.
Two more followed.
So now 6 cats. Both of them said enough cats!
They have successfully fostered several more kittens.
Then came the desperate post - 4 puppies had been abandoned at the local shelter (she volunteers for a cat-only place). The shelter was near capacity and they were too young (8 weeks) to adopt out yet. They needed foster families for a few weeks.
So now two pooches have arrived to be fostered. Cute as buttons too.
I suspect in a few weeks, at least one of the little girls will have some feline siblings!
I honestly admire her though. She's like Pam and puts her money where her mouth is.
And her track record at getting people to adopt more than one cat is pretty impressive - she and her husband work super hard to get their fosters to bond with each other - lots of people come over for one cat and end up taking both of them.
She had a young momma cat who gave birth to two kittens. All three were super bonded, but she said that realistically all they could hope for was that the kittens went together.
Couple came over to see the kittens and saw how momma played with them and took all three!
They have a spare room that they 'display' the fosters in. So when someone comes to visit, they put the kittens in there have the potential adoptees take a seat and bring them refreshments and ask them to sit a bit and play with the cat they want to adopt so they're sure it's the right fit for them. Seems to work extremely well
