You're a brave soul. I quit Prevacid as soon as I heard about the kidney damage these drugs can cause. I have 2 but neither are in perfect shape, as Lupus poked a bunch of holes in them nearly 40 years ago. I've switched to Zantac 150 twice a day. I'm also using Turmeric but it also has other benefits. I didn't know about the kidney side effects, but there is certainly no problem there, I am like Niagara Falls. I also watch closely for blood, expect to see it ever since the kidney stone surgery had me seeing it for about 2 weeks. I thought it was never going to heal up, especially under the effects of the Xarelto. That stuff is a risk too - don't take an overdose 'cuz there's no antidote. The stuff was discovered by some scientists trying to invent a rat poison that would make the critters bleed to death internally. Seems valid, but then someone said, "Hey, I'll bet this stuff would be a good blood thinner," and it was. Its just a little like playing with fire. Damned drugs are all dangerous... my worst so far has been the statin drugs that damned near crippled me - I couldn't stand for more than about 3 minutes because of the pain. Almost ended up in a wheelchair. 3 1/2 months of therapy to get to about 85%. Have recovered more since the therapy, but still have this 1 tiny little muscle in my left hip (the statins attempted to devour all the muscles in my left side) that complains when I walk far, like around a grocery quickly or maybe Lowes at any speed. The Nexium seems to exacerbate the effect a little. Doctor said to try taking the Nexium once every other day. That was better than taking a 1/2 dose since that had to be dissolved in water. Also said that yes, the over the counter Nexium is the same goop as the prescription Nexium, only a whole lot cheaper. Great, I get to unburden my insurance company a bit, no need to give them an additional burden when I don't have to.

I took two weeks off of working out. So went with a little it of vengeance this AM - got my two miles in 16:59*. Which about made it Leg Day. The did upper body until my shoulder hurt (not risking that damaged rotator cuff more than I must).
* Weird for me is that my second mile is faster than my first. Like by almost a minute.

Made if 4 times last week. One day was meh, but at least I got there. My mile times always get faster as I go on the treddy. It usually takes me 15-20 minutes to get up to speed (relatively speaking) unless I'm feeling it, and try to get out of the gate faster. Top sustained pace yesterday was 3.3 mph and wound up with 3 miles in just under 60 minutes, then work heavy back for an hour. I'm a bit rubbery this morning.

Good job! I'm finding the elliptical actually pretty ok, but only above 5mph. Below that doesn't have enough momentum. I'm aiming for upper 6s, but by about 12 minutes in, I'm around and over 7. Heart has been at upper 150bpm, touching 160 sometimes. No arrythmias!
I'll be feeling it soon. I'm trying not to be too wussy on the shoulder, but I REALLY don't want to damage that cuff. And I'm doing the machines, the whole free weight thing is intimidating.

Yeah so they say but it's not what Plan 299 is all about. Gonna have to add in a heavy dose of changing my dietary habits. Drank a lot of beer last week. And IIRC, the week before. Not that that's my only problem, but it contributes to others, like bar food and snacks.

I'm late to the party, but I turned a corner of my woodshop into a gym a couple of weeks ago. Starting with this workout with a few modifications because of lack of equipment. I can't do lat pull-downs, so I do shrugs or something else. I know those aren't the same muscle, but I'm such a lump right now, I figure the important thing is that I'm at least doing something. If I can keep it up for a few months, maybe then I'll shell out for a gym membership. I overdid it on the squats yesterday, so I'm paying for it today.

I used to love doing push-ups, and since my shoulder surgery, I haven't really been able to. I just decided to change that and start trying some again but doing chair push-ups or wall ones instead to get myself started. Did a total of 29 on the 18th, and up to 100 of them today, with my biggest set being 25. Not much, but I need to get toned up again and hopefully reset my sleep clock to normal hours. Now with the weather getting better, I can start walking outside again.

I've got a similar shoulder problem to Bob's but do the shoulder work at least once a week. Once week I'll go for light weight and high reps, that helps with flexibility and range of motion A LOT. Then I'll go heavy weight and lower reps for strength. That being said, the sumbitch is ringin pretty good this morning again just sitting here.
Pasta, that looks like a good system. But getting some cardio makes the weight training a little more efficient and I didn't read where they say to get that ass in gear and move. Let me know if you want to join the Planet of Fatness. Always cool to have a workout buddy. I got the Bob started and now he's halfway to Seoul 2024.

That's probably where I'll end up, since their price looks right. Cardio kills gainz, bro!

Also, I'm not really in it to lose "weight", so much as change my shape. How much the earth pulls on me is less important than, as mentioned before, belt holes. I've never cracked 300, but I hover in the high 280s.

Cardio helps you live longer not lift larger.
But if you want to meet up to just lift... I'm yuh huckleberry.

This month only, I sponsor you to Sport & Health, you get your first month free, I get a gym bag, you get to do any exercise your heart or some book can dream up, the equipment will be there to do it with. Before I upgraded to be able to do several different gyms around the area, I was paying $35 / month, which is probably still the going rate, I suspect, 'cuz the $45 I went up to a couple years ago is still $45. Lemme know.

Got a decent pump this afternoon after my cardio. 5 interval-ed sets of dumbbell presses, no rep counts (which are for fuck boys anyway), rep until you can't do anymore and then do 2 more, increasing weight 5 pounds per on each set, up to 45 lbs.
Also got in a little ab and lower back work. It's been a while so I kept it within reason, this time. Bob, the new location has a pretty cool ab machine... one of only a couple of machines downtown doesn't have. Much better than that crunch piece of shit.

I had to bust ass, I was off for three weeks. But at that point I had done three days in a row, two of them leg days. My calves punished me for that. For like a week. So I was lazy.

1300 calorie burn in each of 6 days up thru Wednesday, then 3 days off. Sitting outside my health club ready to get back to it. Need to crank in lifting at some point, but 1 hr 24 minutes of elliptical for the 1300 calorie burn doesn't leave a lot of left over energy for the other stuff.

1 Hr 25 minutes, 1320 calories, 7.05 miles according to the meters in the elliptical. Good exercise today. Now, if I can do it every day this week, maybe I'll lose some weight. Maybe.
Got to the 6th day of doing that last week, and the last day I did it, I was "all in" for some reason. Very, very difficult. Laid off for 3 days, back at it again today.
