I would be thrilled if someone would come and replace the dish and ensure all connections/components are good. A few years after the system was installed, I had an issue requiring a technician visit. It was the most awesome tech visit I’ve ever had! Before he even rang the doorbell, he had been up on the roof and exchanged the old dish for a new one! I didn’t even know he was here! So all he had to do was set up the transponders and stuff, so it was quick and efficient.
And, I know exactly what you’re going through with residual pain from previously broken body parts. I get a LOT of referred pain from my foot and ankle injuries. A good arch support insole for your shoes can do wonders. (I thought I had plantar fasciitis, too, but bought some orthotic insoles and the pain is much more tolerable.). And, the swelling in my feet have subsided enough that I can now wear New Balance shoes again (their mega wide shoes weren’t wide enough for me). They e been my go to brand for years because of the support and “anti rolling” they provide. My feet and ankles are in horrible shape. I never go barefoot - ever. And since I had that toe injury in bed, I now sleep in socks - support socks right now.

After 55 minutes and 2 “agents”, I now have a new receiver coming in 3 to 5 working days. I. Hate. Customer. Support. But this session wasn’t too awful. A lot of waiting while they check/update/look up, but at least the Directv support seems to have been decoupled from AT&T. Finally! And I’m getting an upgraded receiver! Both agents said my receiver was outdated. Funny, since they sent it to me less than a year ago.

Oops. Now I have a tech bringing it on Wednesday. Ugh.

I’m seriously considering canceling the tech. Without a tv, there isn’t much he can do. Plus, I don’t think he will go on the roof, as the wisteria has started crawling all over it. And, I’m not sure it’s a good idea to bring a new television in with the power issues I’m having. I’ve replaced the surge protector, but who knows if that fixes anything?
And my fucking iPad won’t take a fucking charge. Everything is falling apart. I was supposed to be dead by now! Damn it all.

Can’t help with the TV, but depending on how old the iPad is you should be able to get someone local to replace the battery.

I think I fixed that issue. It’s fairly new. I used canned air to “clean” the charging port. And it charged yesterday after that. Fingers crossed it will charge today.
I ordered a tv from Walmart this morning teen remembered it was now prime day. Fuck me. Oh, well.

Thanks for the reminder! I need to check out the deals.
If it was me I'd cancel that Walmart order if I could save some coin.

It was already shipped. It’s being delivered today. I really had a hard time finding one, after reading through the comments, I ended up with a more expensive one (Samsung) because all the cheaper models had complaints about being damaged when received. A LOT of complaints.

Don’t you hate how FedEx notifies you they are delivering something and then change it with no notice? Grrrr. I purposely slept in as I knew I’d be up late to sign for the delivery.

Now, Walmart says it is coming today. And, checking the FedEx app, yep, it sure is. Good, my schedule change wasn’t in vain. Regardless, I’m not plugging it in for a bit. I’ll wait and see how these storms coming up at the latter part of the week affect my power.
So far, I’m enjoying books! But I do miss the background noise that tv provides. I hate silence with a passion. The voices in my head get so loud when it’s quiet. You know, those voices that tell you what a shit person you are and how you fucked everything up.

So now I get a text from FedEx saying it is delayed until tomorrow. But the app says it is still coming today. I’m so confused. And annoyed. What the actual fuck?

I know the voice. The trick is being able to yell loudly enough to drown it out. As soon as I figure that out, I’ll share the secret.
Didn’t think much of Prime Day this year. Needed some new sheets and Kohls had better quality for less, so I ended up getting some from there. They should arrive on Friday.

I just haven’t found a way to silence it without drowning it out with tv, music or radio. It’s more distracting myself so I don’t listen. Otherwise, I’m in tears.

I guess that explains why I've always liked extremely loud music and chose it as a profession.

Even the tinnitus doesn’t drown out the voices. But I have it because loud music via headphones plus loud computer rooms.

Do we have a TV? Did the tech guy ever come?
Since the spouse has claimed the basement as his turf during the plague, I have no access to the tee-vee. Here I could have been spending quality sick time watching trash, but noooooooo! Someone wanted the bed instead.
Why did I think moving the TV downstairs was a good idea???

The tv arrived Wednesday afternoon. I disconnected the broken one and hauled it out to the garage on Thursday and unboxed the new one. It’s currently leaning against a chair near the entertainment center. I haven’t assembled it (put the feet/legs on) or connected anything. I want to make sure my power issues have passed. I’m hoping the glitches were Dominion clearing up the residual damage from the downed trees and lines. We experienced a pretty good downpour last night, with no repurcussions, so I’m optimistic. If Sunday’s “cool front” passes without any glitches, I may feel comfortable to hook the lot up.

One weird thing about this. I also ordered a new surge protector to replace the “backup” that is now servicing my entertainment equipment. It was being shipped from a different place and was supposed to arrive Thursday (via Lasership?), but it still hasn’t arrived. Tracking the shipment revealed there was a “problem” in King George? But nothing else! And I was supposed to receive a delivery yesterday via USPS that didn’t arrive, either. Tracking revealed that it was returned to sender due to addressing issues. This delivery is a supplement that I’ve been taking for awhile and is delivered monthly! WTF?

Alright, I’m starting to feel targeted here, now. I just received email (many of them - one for each product) from Amazon saying my monthly “subscribe and save” delivery was delayed. It was supposed to be delivered today. What is going on? (One item is being delivered today by USPS, according to an em other email I received.)

Very Weird.
OTOH, UPS is getting ready to strike and I wonder if that's not screwing everything up?

I’m a little nervous about the tv installation. All the documentation says 2 people are needed, even a video I pulled up (because there was nothing besides a stupid drawing telling me how to install the fucking feet). And, this mofo is fucking heavy. I guess I should just dive in and get it done. 😱🧐

Oh boy. Please be careful. Are you hanging it on the wall or just setting it on a stand?

I have a huge (way too big for the room) entertainment center that I purchased with the first flat screen (rear projection) in 2006. I hate it along with everything else about this house, but I’m stuck with it.
I got distracted with blackened shrimp tacos and a book I was finishing up. Maybe I’ll feel stronger tomorrow.

Feet are installed, tv is on the stand and power and dvd are connected. But…it won’t turn on. There’s probably something weird with the multiple surge protectors or something. Or, the tv is fucked.
And, I can’t find the little hole needed to connect my sound bar. I’m deaf, so I may be needed. I will see if that is an issue.

Power problem fixed. It works! Now if I could only hear it. I hate this fucking “smart remote”. I can’t figure out how to turn up the volume! It’s nice that it is rechargeable, even via solar, but for fuck’s sake. A separate volume button that won’t bring up fucking menus telling me I have no antenna, etc would be nice.

I connected the sound bar and sub woofer via hdmi, but it seems as though it isn’t recognized by the tv. It knows my dvd player. And I managed to figure out the remote via a video on YouTube. It is definitely not intuitive - it’s and elongated button that you push up to increase the volume and push down to decrease. But, even at the top setting (100), it’s still not loud enough for me and the tinnitus. I just watched 10 Cloverfield Lane, and enjoyed it. But I missed some of the dialogue - especially the whispers.
We are getting there. Now I need to decide whether to stick with directv or maybe try dish. And if I do go with directv, should I go for the upgrade or just get a new receiver, as was my original plan.

In our day the tvs didn't have a learning curve!! LOL
The sound menu will have an option for the AUX OUT and when you enable it, should put signal to the sound bar. If you want to control the level via the tv remote, choose Variable. If you want to use the remote for the sound bar, choose Fixed.
