Friday, I actually turned the fan off for a few hours as it was so chilly in my room. I had to turn it on later after it warmed up though. Truly, 50s used to be normal temperatures for early spring. Im loving it and so is my tulip magnolia and cherry trees. The blooms have never lasted this long, I don’t believe.

I remember waking up one Easter morning to 4 inches of snow when I was a kid. I was so worried about the Easter bunny traversing the snow with Easter baskets! And the funniest of all was dressing up for Easter (we always got new dresses, etc. for Easter. It was the first spring clothes we wore, usually). No frilly Easter dresses that year!

I remember waking up to a blizzard when I was a kid on Easter. And since it was Easter, and my mom was a Good Catholic Mom, she made us go to church in it!!!
Did I mention that the church was in the valley between two semi-steep hills? And did I add that my mom had gotten her license in the summer prior to that Easter?
I looked death in the eye that day, at the tender age of 5...

The wind is back which means my night light has returned. My neighbor’s floodlight shines right into my bedroom window, illuminating the room. It is very sensitive, so any time a leaf passes or a moth flies by, it lights up because it detects motion. (I turned mine off because it stayed on so much, it burned out the lamp in a couple years). Welcome! It’s nice to have my own personal moon. It used to annoy me when I slept at nighttime, but now I welcome it as it lights up my way to the restroom.

It's a tad chilly out there today. Probably because it's getting ready to rain soon.
But yesterday. So amazing! I could use more days like that weather-wise.

Holy cow, but it got hot FAST! Poor Dresi didn't get an afternoon walk - can't walk a big old black dog in the heat without shade. So he got to go out in the yard for a bit. But he's gotten used to his morning and afternoon walks. Always hard for him when that season comes to an end

Ugh. Stepped out on the porch to fetch a package (yummy! Pretzels!) and the heat hit me. First time I’ve come downstairs this week where the heat wasn’t on at the same time the AC was running upstairs. 🤣🤣

We had to turn on the AC for a couple of hours last night. It was 77 in here and ran throughout the night to keep it at 70. Don't like using the AC in March FFS

Damn, but yesterday was nice! I did a virtual tour of Auschwitz yesterday - two hours. Very informative, and very, very sad. One thing the guide did was show drone footage of the three camps and surrounding areas. It was astonishing to see how large Auschwitz II (Birkenau) was in terms of people, yet how small it was - people were packed into that place on a scale I have a really hard time wrapping my head around. Anyway, I really needed something more life-affirming after that, so I went and sat outside with the dogs for a while. Very glad I did that tour (the guide said the full in-person tour is close to 5 hours). It's something that we all need to remember. One thing he pointed out was that 1.3 million people came through those gates. Only 200,000 ended up leaving

I can deal with grass - it's the damn trees!
They giveth us oxygen, but in the spring, they taketh it away!

No complaints for Tuesday weather. No overheating or anything and I was happy to do capris when I arose (yes! No more holding up my pants! I still haven’t figured out how to keep my seats from falling down - particularly when my cellphone is in my pocket.). But 80s and humidity? Ugh. Ugh. Ugh.
I turned the heat off early yesterday morning. It’s kind of freaky how both thermostats are set at the same temp (66), yet the heat is running downstairs at the exact same time the AC is running upstairs. Weird!

Absolutely! The pollen! Even though oaks haven’t reached top billing in the list of fornicating trees yet, I watched the first of many oak droppings this morning - they are so messy!
I came downstairs and my house was so stuffy. I turned on the ceiling fan to move the tepid air around a bit. I’m trying to keep the AC off down here, as I need a little break in the electric bill.

I’m happy I had a light meal fr this morning, since it’s warmer than usual in here. I had a shrimp salad sandwich! It was better than I expected, since the salad was mostly shredded cabbage with some carrots thrown in. But the sauce (with a hint of lemon) was pretty good. Add in the old bay and a touch of tobasco, yum! A perfect meal for a warm day.
The rest of the week is more veggies, but heavier meals - eggplant lasagna and broccoli Alfredo (I’m not even sure I will be able to eat this as I have a hard time getting anything Alfredo down).

So yesterday was carpet cleaning day. Today was try to cut the lawn day. Made it through about oh I dunno maybe 2/3 of it I guess maybe a little bit more. No trimming. Both deals have been 299 times harder than they should be. When I say I'm getting too old for this shit it's true tu troof.
PS I didn't use the new self propelled lawn mower because I didn't want to get it dirty

I used to love mowing. It was like zen for me. I even used to mow a field behind the house I rented so I could walk my dogs there. But it became too time consuming.
But holy hailstorm! I’m glad the thunder woke me before the downpour (and wasn’t that the longest prelude to a storm ever?) because if I had awakened to that hail beating on the roof I may have had a heart attack!
